The exchange between Virginia Tech and RUB in the field of process engineering began in 2015 with an eight-week stay of twelve US students in Bochum, and since January 2016 RUB students have had the opportunity to get to know one of the leading universities on the US East Coast for the respective spring term. Virginia Tech’s colors (maroon & orange) can also be found on the university’s mascot, the so-called „Hokie Bird“. When the approximately 30,000 students attend sporting events or other major events, this is also visually stunning.
Blacksburg, a typical small American town, is home to the university and offers everything necessary for everyday life. There are many beautiful landscapes to discover in the surrounding area, which can be explored on foot, by bike or by kayak. A stay in the area broadens your horizons in many ways.
A successful TOEFL (105 points in the internet-based version) is required for admission to the American university. During the semester on site, courses with a total of at least 12 credit points/hours must be taken – generally three or four courses. Further information can be found here:
